In 2005 my father and I saw an opportunity to improve the design and significance of many luxury car keys. With few exceptions the keys we studied were plain, plastic, and simply rebadged versions of regular consumer cars. Getting our hands on a Murcielago key we discovered that it was simply a modified Audi key. It was made of cheap black plastic that's didn't uphold Lamborghini's commitment to innovative design and materials.
We feel that beyond the basic function it should be an avatar for the car. A symbol of the passion and craftsmanship that goes into the car. The key can be elevated to the degree of a trophy, signifying ownership in something rare and desirable. With that goal in mind we began exploring how to bring high design, expert craftsmanship, and exotic materials to this neglected corner of automotive design.
Our next key was a commisioned piece for a client's 300 SL Roadster.
